Because Culture Isn’t Free: Support Estefanía and her exhibition

Organized by Theresa Enveloppe

Welcome to the fundraiser to support Estefanía Henriquez and her participation in the upcoming exhibition “La Regla: Feminist Perspectives on Institutional Facts” !
(13.06.25 - 26.06.25 - Jessnerstr. 33 - Berlin)

If you made it this far, you probably already know one crucial truth: culture and art are underfunded - especially when it comes to projects led by women*, queers and everybody that questions structural violence. Yet, we need these voices more than ever - to challenge dominant narratives, to reflect lived realities, and to inspire new ways of thinking.

This is why I am calling on friends, allies, and the broader community for the support of Estefanía’s artistic work.

This fundraiser will help Estefanía cover her stay in Berlin, support the preparation of the exhibition, and might even offer a small compensation for her artistic work, which is otherwise unpaid. With your contribution we will make this exhibition possible and also plant seeds for future projects.

About the Exhibition:
“La Regla: Perspectivas feministas para hechos institucionales” explores how feminism can reinterpret or disrupt historical, political, and cultural narratives imposed by dominant power structures. Through photography and installation, the exhibition makes lived experiences visible, criticizes institutional violence, and proposes new forms of collective organization.

The title has a double meaning with a feminist critique of power structures.
In Spanish “La Regla” refers to the norms imposed by institutions as well as to menstruation. Through the depiction of menstruation, the artist reclaims the female body, which is typically dominated by the male perspective.
“La Regla” also invokes the image of a ruler (as in a measuring tool), suggesting that the exhibition proposes new methods of evaluating institutional frameworks through a feminist lens.
The term “hechos institucionales” (“institutional facts”) refers to events, laws, or normalized practices that have excluded or marginalized women and dissident identities.
